BUFFALO TRACE MONTH AT JW STEAKHOUSE
As part of the celebrations for Elmer T. Lee, Master Distiller Emeritus of the Buffalo Trace Distillery’s 93rd birthday in August, the Bourbon Bar has acquired some special bottles of Buffalo Trace bourbon. These bottles were created from a batch of barrels which were rediscovered in the Buffalo Trace warehouse, some as old as 19 years. The bourbon has been tasted and bottled under the highly acclaimed ‘Experimental Collection’ moniker. Bourbon connoisseurs can sample the rich and creamy texture of the bourbon over ice or the adventurous can try one of the specially created cocktails. Why not enjoy your cocktail on the terrace in JW Steakhouse and watch the sun setting over Hyde Park.
The Bourbon Bar at JW Steakhouse has created four special cocktails for the occasion:
- Cosmopolitan Deluxe – Red wine shaken with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, orange liqueur, freshly squeezed lemon juice and almond syrup. Served in a chilled Martini glass). £12
- Champagne Julep – Fresh mint leaves and sugar muddled with Buffalo Trace Bourbon then topped with Pommery Brut Champagne. A twist of the Kentucky classic). £15
- Black Bramble Buffalo Trace – Bourbon muddled with fresh blackberries, sugar, freshly squeezed lemon juice and dash of blackberry liqueur. Served over crushed ice. £12
- Passionate Buffalo – Buffalo Trace Bourbon shaken with fresh mint, maple syrup, passion fruit juice and passion fruit liqueur. Served in a Martini glass. £12
Despite turning 93 and having retired in 1985, Elmer Lee continues to serve as am Ambassador and still goes to the Distillery every week to sign bottles and taste barrels. He also remains one of only three living master distillers who have a bourbon named after them.
