UPCOMING: Burger Fest 2014, Hackney
One of my favourite things about London at the moment is our new love affair with the burger. It’s hard to believe that a few years ago the Whopper was seen as the be all and end all of British burger culture (despite being an American import!). Thanks largely to the street food explosion, proper British burgers have taken over from these poor American imitations, and we finally have a scene to be proud of. And what better way to celebrate this phenom than with a Burger festival showcasing five of the best that London has to offer; Honest Burgers, Mother Flipper, Wild Game Co, Street Kitchen, and Burger Craft.
Saturday 15th March sees Burger Fest 2014 arrive at Hackney Downs Studios for a one day spectacular of beef patties, DJs, and board games. The idea is the brainchild of event listings website Twenty Something London who recently voted Flat Iron as the best in their Top 10 Burgers in London competition, and wanted to give back to all those who voted.
Tickets start at £30 and includes 5 half burgers and a bacon and maple flavoured cupcake for dessert courtesy of Cupcakes and Shhht. Also, anyone that arrives before 5:30pm gets a free bottle of BrewDog. Purchase tickets on the following link: http://twentysomethinglondon.com/tsl-present-burger-fest-2014/
