F1 Grand Prix Ball 2010

Lights, Camera and Action.

The Formula 1 Grand Ball took place this year at the Hurlington Club, situated in the high profile area of Fulham, South West London, for the 2010 celebrations. Along with 600 attendees, BSF partied into the night to celebrate 60 years of F1 and raise money for CLIC Sargent, the children’s cancer charity.  Guests included Jade Ewen, Beverley Knight, Nancy Dell, Olio, Elen Rives, Eddie Jordan, Liz McClarnon, Blake, Rick Yune, Karen Hardy, Rick Parfitt Junior, Michelle Collins and Nat Weller.

The night started off with a Champagne reception on the lawn of the Hurlington Club with Pommery bubbles, while guests viewed an array of historic F1 cars throughout the ages, the cars ranged from Classic Team Lotus and private collectors, Nigel Mansell’s Williams, the 2010 Force India car and this year’s Cosworth Formula 1 engine.

This was followed by a three course meal and the Charity Auction hosted by James Allen, who was the MC for the night.  The auction raised over £43,000 for the charities, as guests outbid each other for 10 star luxurious holiday breaks and signed pieces of the F1 cars.

There wasn’t an occupied seat in the house as the night progressed with fantastic performances from The Sugababes, Darius Campbell, Eddie Jordan & The Robbers, performing classic reggae tunes, which featured a guest spot by legendary saxophonist Leo Green, and Ben Montague, who was celebrating hitting the A playlist on BBC radio 2.  The evening ramped up with a packed dancefloor to DJ sets by Seb Fontaine, who finished off with Michael Jackon’s Thriller, and DJ Lora. The atmosphere was relaxed and energetic throughout with everyone letting their hair down and having a good time.

The action now moves from London to Silverstone, where British heroes Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton are looking strong in this year’s McLaren. Every British sports fan will be hoping that come Sunday, Button or Hamilton can do what the football team and Andy Murray couldn’t, and bring the winner’s trophy home. The closing party will be at Aura GP Lounge at Paramount on the 31st floor of Centrepoint. F1 driver Jaime Alguersuari and Seb Fontaine will be headline DJ’s for the evening, with partygoers able to view the 2010 Red Bull F1 car as they walk the red carpet, before ascending to 385 feet where they will enjoy a complimentary open bar with drinks provided by event partners Pommery Champagne, Marquis Vodka and Red Bull.
