As the music world, and those who follow it, geared up for the return of the infamous X-Factor, it has been an equally riveting competition that’s been getting the fashion industry just as anxious and excited this year. Fashion Fringe, a concept created 8 years ago by fashion historian and Sunday Times Style contributor Colin McDowell, has returned and with it plans on helping make a budding new designer a legend in Fashion Design, following in the footsteps of Hussein Chalayan, Vivienne Westwood and the late Alexander McQueen. Although the judging panel doesn’t promise to provide us with any particularly witty banter like what were used to from Cheryl and Simon, the judges are still forces to be reckoned with. Among the countless influential fashion guru’s judging at Fashion Fringe ’11 is top supermodel and icon, Claudia Schiffer and renowned french designer Roland Mouret, all of which will be deciding the fate of the three remaining prospective designers.

One extremeley talented individual who made it all the way to the Semi-Finals is luxury knitwear designer, Bethan Juliff, who successfully beat out thousands of hopefuls all looking to get to the final stage of the competition. Originally from the Geordie filled shores of Newcastle Upon Tyne, Juliff began building her hand-made knitwear brand back in 2009 after graduating from Nottingham Trent University. 18 months on and Juliff has made a name for herself through Fashion Fringe 2011 and, even though she failed to reach the top 3, has already a promising future ahead in the industry through this success.

We at BSF magazine wish Bethan the best of luck on all her future endevours and commend her for getting so far, we also salut the final contestants, one of which will be crowned the winner of Fashion Fringe 2011.
