POP UP: Havana Nights @ Callooh Callay
Never ones to shy away from change, Callooh Callay bar in Shoreditch have once again redesigned their upstairs bar (formerly known as the Jub Jub) into a ‘Havana Nights’ Cuban themed drinking spot. The upstairs bar changes theme every 6 weeks and this is one of the most drastic, complete with pictures of Che Guevara, a faux window looking out to an imaginary picturesque village, and a menu made from sticky brown cigar paper.
The pop up is being run in association with Havana Club rum and all the cocktails on the menu feature the popular Cuban spirit. The menu includes 6 Daiquiris that are all served in the infamous El Floridita bar in Havana, classic Cuban cocktails such as the Nacional and El Presidente, as well as original drinks created by the award winning team at Callooh Callay. At the launch event, we tried a few and all were amazing, however I must recommend the Pequena Copa, a short drink made with Havana Club Seleccion de Maestros and Pedro Ximenez, created by upstairs bartender Stuart Hudson.
You only have until August 17th to experience a slice of Old Havana, so make sure you book early as spaces are very limited.
