Hugo Boss Yacht Launch Party
Last Thursday 27th May I received an exquisite invitation to the Hugo Boss Yacht Launch Party for the official christening of the brands new IMOCA 60 class yacht which was hosted at the premier event venue, East Wintergarden which is nestled amongst the iconic towers in the heart of London’s Canary Wharf financial district. The Yacht was officially baptised by the glamorous Hollywood actress Diane Kruger, who looked impeccable in a stylish Boss Black suit.
The newly designed yacht will be skippered by the talented British sailor Alex Thomson who is the youngest skipper ever to win the Clipper Round the World Race in 1999 at the age of 25, and is the current holder of the 60 monohull distance record, covering an astounding 501 miles in 24 hours.

The new Hugo Boss yacht was remodelled by the designer Juan Kouyoumdjian in a process lasting over four months and is significantly more powerful than it’s predecessor and other vessels in it’s class. The IMOCA 60 class yacht has been tailored specifically to the needs of skipper Alex Thomson and built and designed to be sailed solo around the world. The look and colour of the yacht has been changed from the former yacht, with the port side now white and the starboard side black.
The yacht will be setting off for New York and the Hamptons, where it will be sailing with HUGO BOSS guests on board. Subsequently, the boat will be returning to Europe, where in mid-summer the yacht will then sail between the Mediterranean hot spots of Sardinia, Capri and finally docking in Ibiza. There the IMOCA 60 will be taking part in a range of events.
Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance the sneak onboard maybe next time.
