ABOUT THE HAC and THE HAC BENEVOLENT FUND
With Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as Captain-General and having being incorporated by Royal Charter
in 1537 by King Henry VIII, the HAC is the oldest and one of the most prestigious regiments in the British
army. The HAC is the only dedicated surveillance and target acquisition (STA) regiment and also has a
unique ceremonial role in the city of London providing the saluting battery at the tower of London and the
guard of honour for state occasions.
The Company is a Registered Charity whose purpose is to attend to the “better defence of the realm” and
this purpose is primarily achieved by the support of the HAC Regiment. Members of the Regiment are
drawn, for the most part, from young professional men and women working in and around the City and
Greater London. Those leaving the Regiment may become Veteran Members and remain within the frater-
nity of the Company, which they then serve in a variety of ways.
ABOUT THE PARACHUTE REGIMENT and THE PARACHUTE REGIMENT CHARITY:
On Saturday the 22nd June 1940 Winston Churchill called for the formation of an elite corps of troop and
so the Parachute Regiment was born. Prince Charles is the current Colonel-in-Chief and their service
record is second to none placed at the vanguard of all major conflicts since their creation. The Parachute
Regiment Charity was established to support soldiers of the Parachute Regiment and other Airborne
Forces and their families through the relief of need, hardship and distress amongst past and present mem-
bers and their dependents.
