Guest Post: Jessie Ware rocks the Cutty Sark
Before you think Jessie Ware has been performing gigs on an old tea ship docked in Greenwich, we actually mean Cutty Sark the whisky. And no, Jessie hasn’t been hitting the bottle, but last week Thursday (12/09/13) she played a private gig inside a huge wooden crate on London’s Brick Lane.
For one night only, Brick Lane was brought to a standstill for Cutty Cargo, Cutty Sark Blended Whisky’s first stop on a global tour, showcasing the best local talents on offer. And the 400 strong audience in attendance were treated to London’s very own Jessie Ware, who thrilled with hits including If Your Never Gonna Move, Wildest Moments and closed the set with the summer anthem Running. After rapturous applause, superstar London DJ Duke Dumont got the crowd dancing with a high energy set and got the masses on their feet when he played Need You 100%.
As well as the music, Cutty Sark cocktails were on offer throughout the evening courtesy of 69 Colebrooke Row, and was the perfect accompaniment to Miss Polly Rae’s tantalising burlesque performance in the crate’s very own secret room; I for one made sure I was front row centre!
Blood, Sweat and Fashion competition winner @yakkidyak commented on Twitter “@Jessie_Ware just walked past me and said the word “nah”, it was one of the best moments of my year so far”- We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
Now that London is out of the way, all aboard the Cutty Sark for the next show in New York.
