NUVO SPARKLING LIQUEUR- L’espirit de Paris
Written by Gavin // January 26, 2012 // Drinks, FOOD AND DRINK

Nuvo Sparkling Liqueur is an unfamiliar name on these shores, but across the pond, Nuvo is the drink on everyone’s lips (literally!). No social event in New York or L.A. will be complete without all glasses being topped up with liquid poured from this perfume shaped bottle. With such an elaborate vase, subtlety is not Nuvo’s strong point, and is part of the reason Nuvo is favoured by some of America’s biggest and brashest celebrities.
Made from Premium Vodka and French sparkling wine, with an infusion of fruit- Nuvo is the world’s first sparkling liqueur. There are two flavours available; Nuvo Classic Passion Fruit & the recently introduced Lemon Sorbet. At 25% volume, it can be enjoyed on the rocks, which really brings out the zest of the spirit. Drinking straight is very much a night time affair, but as an early evening long drink, Nuvo Lemon Sorbet with pineapple juice is a refreshing treat.
Premium Vodka has grown massively recently, but the strength can be off-putting. I think the makers are gearing this product towards females as an alternative to vodka or champagne, & if the popularity of Nuvo is anything to go by, this could be the beginning of a new trend in the party drinks market.
Drink connoisseurs will frown at the thought of mixing vodka and wine but it strangely works. I loved the Lemon Sorbet flavour as it has a faint bitter taste, with the familiarity of Vodka & Tonic. Nuvo is difficult to find in the UK, so if you find it in your local cocktail bar, then certainly use the opportunity to have a taste- your palette will enjoy the challenge!
