RED MAPS
Written by Hanna-May White // September 18, 2010 // TRAVEL

I must be the worst person anyone can ask for directions. Have you ever watched a horror movie where the girl gives the wrong directions and her and all her friends end up in some waste land, running for their lives from strange alien like creatures? Well I’m the girl giving out the wrong directions! So you can imagine how I was dreading facing the Fashion Week, excited as I am, I hate getting lost, however Jim Leniart came to my rescue and sent me over a few of his Red Maps. Beautifully illustrated and easy to read maps of London, Paris, New York, Barcelona and Soho (The little Italy of New York city). Yes I am fully aware of google maps, but call me old fashioned because I hate relying on technology and prefer a good A to Z.
Jim Leniart began Red Maps 12 years ago. He first started out in commercial real estate, and frankly he wasn’t so good at it. He had a t-shirt business on the side trying to make a go at a new career. As he was making a map for a real estate client, one of his friend’s saw the drawing he had done and told him he should give up his t-shirt business and make maps. 12 years on he hasn’t looked back. The Red Map differs from other maps, with a sleek sophisticated look, its travel size and designed to fit into your pocket or handbag, colour coded with an easy to read format with elegant graphics. Red Maps provides fresh additional tips, free downloadable mini-maps and updates on their redmapsblog.com.
