SIMONE ROCHA WINS FASHION DESIGNER BURSARY
Obtaining finance is the main stumbling block for many aspiring young designers. This has been recognised by Elle magazine, and they have collaborated with orange liqueur makers Cointreau to offer a £100k year long bursary to one lucky emerging designer.
And the first winner of this prestigious award is Simone Rocha, a Central St Martin graduate who has been making waves at London Fashion Week since first showing in S/S 2011. Simone will gain massive exposure through Elle and will also have the exciting opportunity to act as Cointreau’s creative director. This will include organising the prestigious annual ‘Cointreau Prive’ pop up bar at London Fashion Week in September.
“I am so grateful to be awarded the Elle Cointreau bursary. It is such an exciting time and their support can only help me build my label. Elle has supported me from the beginning of my label and I am delighted to be the first recipient of this bursary.”
Simone’s rise to stardom is a real inspiration for all upcoming designers, and who knows, next year it could be you! We wish Simone the best of luck in her new role and look forward to future fashion/drinks collaborations with her influence.
