Acclaimed Designers Hit the West End
In Charity Pantomime for Dementia UK
Snow White and the Seven Designers
Garrick Theatre, London Tuesday 12th – Saturday 16th October Leading figures from the world of fashion and design have come together to raise money for Dementia UK by staging and starring in a West End pantomime production Snow White and the Seven Designers. With just six performances scheduled at the West End’s renowned Garrick Theatre this October, key names set to tread the boards include Tim Gosling, Bill Bennette, Joanna Wood, Nina Campbell, Tessa Kennedy and William Yeoward. Written and directed by Russell Penn, Snow White and the Seven Designers will also include costumes designed by legendary names from British and International fashion brands such as Vivienne Westwood,Jean Paul Gaultier, Valentino, Zandra Rhodes, Paul Smith, Amanda Wakeley, Pucci, Thomasz Starzewski and Bruce Oldfield to name a few. The imaginative set design is the creation of Jonathan Coleman.
Russell Penn’s comical twist on the famous fairy tale sees evil and vain Cassandra thrown into a rage as her magic mirror reveals that not only is the King’s daughter, Snow White, the fairest in the land, but many more things are more beautiful than her fabrics, art, chairs and even wallpaper. As Cassandra rids the world of beauty as a minimalist designer, Snow White and the Seven Designers attempt to stop her dastardly plans meeting several pantomime favourites along the way. A fantastical romp fusing the world of design and folk tale, Snow White and the Seven Designers is this season’s must-see show. Tim Gosling comments, The Interior Designer pantomime has always been a way for a group of frustrated actors and like-minded designers to come together and do their bit for charity. Whilst we have always tried to have fun with the performance, the cast has always tried to adopt a professional approach to ensure it is as successful as it can be. This year we have really upped the ante and we are really pleased to be presenting some of the UK’s most prestigious designers on one of London’s most renowned stages. I hope this will enable us to raise a lot more money for Dementia UK.
