A new steak concept arrives in London
A new oyster bar and grill restaurant is set to open in London’s busiest financial district. Located on the iconic Cornhill in the city, The Door will be set over two floors with a stylish restaurant and separate bar area. The menu will have an emphasis onmeat, with steaks from particular regions of the world being served to suit all tastes.
Brought to London by The DoorGroup, the upper mezzanine of the 90-cover venue willprovide an attractive vantage point over the bustling restaurant downstairs and of thefamous citystreets outside the large windows. Designed by acclaimed designers, BGW Design Studio, the venue’s plush interior has a classic feel, with muted grey, silver and black tones used throughout. Many of the original features of the building will offer an unusual blend of old and new with touches such as a silver corniced ceiling and the original large curved windows which will flood the room with natural light.
Created by Executive Chef John Murphy (formerly of Palm and Rules), the main emphasis of The Door’s menu will be on the meat served, which has been sourcedfrom four different countries to suit all meat-loving palates. Argentine Black Angus which is raised on the pampas where cattle graze on over 200 different grass varieties, Prime Angus/Hereford meat from the Midwest USDA region in America, which is grass fed and then finished for 100-150 days on a diet of grain. Finally The Door’s speciality: Waygu beef will be sourced from both Australia and Chile. Wagyu meat is generally considered to be the most tender, most succulent and flavoursome meat in the world, with cattle being massaged daily to create excellent marblingthrough each cut and fed on a mixture of beer, corn and maize.
The menu is not entirely focused towards steak with a delicious selection of starters, including several different varieties of oysters, which can be enjoyed with a glass of champagne at the bar or in the restaurant. Guests can enjoy other smaller plates such as; Line Caught Atlantic Cod Ceviche,Lobster Salad and Wild Mushroom and Baby Spinach Sauté.
