THE STONE ROSES TAKE OVER BAYSWATER

For a generation of party loving northerners- The Stone Roses, the Hacienda nightclub, and dodgy long hair will bring a wry smile.  Manchester in the late 70s and 80s, (or Madchester as it affectionately became known) was the breeding ground for some of the UK’s most popular indie acts and 30 years on, Sonos pays homage with an exhibition displaying memorabilia and photography from the era.

Legendary music photographers Kevin Cummins, Paul Slattery and Ian Tilton have collaborated to bring the Madchester atmosphere to West London’s Whiteleys Shopping Centre.  As the most influential photographers of the scene, they got closer than anyone else to the likes of the Happy Mondays, Morrissey, and New Order- and the exhibition showcases the most iconic and exclusive images.

Having attended the exhibition, I recommend to anyone with a passion for British music and with The Stone Roses much anticipated reunion tour already under way, this exhibition is well timed.  If a picture can speak a thousand words, then this display would be War & Peace.

The Stone Roses: The Third Coming sponsored by Sonos runs until 12th August 2012 @ Whiteleys, Bayswater, London, W2 4YN.  Sun 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM; Mon – Sat 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM.  Free Entry.
