Due to popular demand, Shoreditch dim sum eatery and cocktail bar, The Drunken Monkey, has launched an official poker night at 7.30pm every Tuesday evening. Following the launch of a small poker night amongst regulars, word spread and interest grew beyond the original players. With more people coming to play every week, The Drunken Monkey had to allocate more and more space throughout the venue and is now launching the poker night officially.

Expect to see a real cross section of Shoreditch society  with foreign bankers to East London fashionistas and even the local barber from next door, all playing each other and socialising after the game. And it’s not just men who are getting involved, women are also turning up and playing their best poker face.

Manager Chris Goulbourne says:The original idea of a games night was to get some regulars together outside of the normal busy end of week music nights to create a more relaxed social evening for them. However, we have only been running the night for 6 weeks and have already had over forty different customers get involved.

It’s attracting new people in all the time as they see it as great value for money for 2-3 hours entertainment and really good fun. Entry to the game is just £5 and the winner claims the pot (maximum £100). Additionally, Four Roses Bourbon gives out a bottle of their Four Roses Small Batch  every month to the best performing player. You can also dine and enjoy the dim sum eatery and cocktail bar. First opening in 2002, and pioneering the drinking and dim sum trend, The Monkey is now considered an East End institution.

With a relaxed New York vibe, it is the perfect eating and drinking den for all occasions, from a last minute bite with friends to Sunday afternoon Bloody Marys and brunch, or cocktails and partying at the Late Night Monkey sessions with a host of amazing DJs.
