What to Wear? A/W ’11 Trend Report
With summer sales continuing to grow and new season stock beginning to appear, it can be difficult trying to stay up to date with what’s in and what’s unarguably OUT. Luckily for you, we have compiled a selection of some truly unmissable fashion trends for Autumn/Winter 2011 to keep you on-trend and in the loop.
Man, I feel like a woman
With a new wave of transgender models exploding onto the fashion scene and tailored suits quickly becoming the newly coveted addition to a woman’s wardrobe, this coming season forces us to look to our gender counterparts for a little inspiration. Pair tailored trousers, jet-black trilbies and formal brogues, with form fitting shirts and plunging necklines to create a look that will truly bring androgyny to life. Look to Stella McCartney and Nicole Farhi to really learn how to work your inner masculinity.

Fetish for Fashion
Risqué cuts, leather straps and skyscraper heels, this could only mean one thing…fetish fashion. When the likes of Lady Gaga and Kate Moss are leaving fashion shows draped in sexy black leather, balancing on what can only be described as boots best used for bondage, its safe to say S&M is set to become more than just a chart topping single this autumn/winter. Look to Thierry Mugler and Giles to see fetish fashion in its true form.

Colour Shock
Rejoice! The beautiful palette of energetic colours that flooded Ibiza beaches and brightened sun-drenched parks this passing summer are set to follow us into the colder months. Rest assured, with the exception of a few more vibrant additions, our old autumn favorites, the Burgundy reds, Persian blues, and much loved Mustard yellows are still present in countless collections this coming season.

Mix and Match
Mixing and matching has never been so wild. This season is all about being free with your fashion and taking risks. Mix your faux fur, your florals, your tie-dye and your sequins in a beautiful flurry of textures to really get the most of this trend. Liberate this look by playing with vibrant colours reminiscent of the House of Holland whilst channeling the quirky, spirited designs of Louise Gray.

Make a Statement
Make your knits really matter this season with a statement jumper that says it all. Whether its quirky hands from the House of Holland or block-coloured canvases from Erdem, make your must-have winter accessory do more than just keep you warm this autumn/winter. A tip for this trend is to really go all out, the crazier the jumper the better.

New-Wave Native
For this much-anticipated trend think, Tribal chic. Be uplifted by Navajo prints, warm tones, detailed crotchet, and revive the fashion ventures of another time. Prepare your wardrobe for a wave of native inspired designs with a quirky, modern edge. From Proenza Schouler’s colourful embroidery to the oversized ponchos that graced catwalks of New York, London and Paris.
